At the invitation of the U.S.-China Center for Animal Health of Kansas State University, Song Houhui, member of the party committee and dean of the School of Animal Medicine of Kansas State University, visited Kansas State University and attended the 2023 Annual Homecoming U.S.-China Joint DVM Program meeting on May 23-29.
Also, attending the meeting were the leaders of the US management unit of the Sino-US joint training DVM program-- the leaders of Kansas State University and Veterinary College, the leaders of the U.S.-China Animal Health Center, the chief medical officer of Shuoteng, the largest animal protection and vaccine company in the world, the president of the American Veterinary Association, the leaders of the Veterinary School of Iowa State University, and the leaders of the School of Veterinary Medicine of University of Minnesota, the School of Veterinary Medicine of Yangzhou University and the School of Animal Medicine of Southwest University. And 2017-2027 Sino-US joint training DVM program graduate representatives and DVM students, etc. The conference was chaired by Frank Blecha, associate dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University.
Song Houhui delivered a keynote speech entitled "initial intention and Mission-- DVM and Veterinary Education of Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University" at the meeting. Dr. DVM Zeng Huan of the School of Motion Medicine reported his achievements and work progress after joining Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University as the representative of the 2019 Sino-American Joint training DVM graduates. During the meeting, Song Houhui exchanged views with the Director of U.S.-China Animal Health Center and the Associate Provost of Kansas State University on the further implementation of the MOU signed with Kansas State University, the expansion of cooperative disciplines, the establishment of Consortium (Alliance), and the co-establishment of the same International Joint Research Institute of Health.
This visit lays a solid foundation for further strengthening the international cooperation between the College and the National Scholarship Council, Kansas State University School of Veterinary Medicine and the US-China Center for Animal Health in DVM international teacher training and Sino-foreign cooperation programs.
