There are 20 teachers in Developmental Biology, among whom there are six professors, seven associate professors, nine doctors and seven masters, three trans-century academic and technology leaders in Zhejiang Province (talents of the “151” Program in Zhejiang Province), and 11 master’s degree tutors. At the same time, Shen Yungang, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Jiang Dean, Professor of Zhejiang University, are employed in the discipline, and Gao Rongfu, Professor of Beijing Forestry University, is employed as part-time professor. There is a provincial-level College Botany Teaching Team and provincial-level Forestry Basic Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center. The laboratory covers an area of 1200 m2, and the total equipment funds are worth more than 6 million Yuan, constituting perfect experimental conditions. More than 10 teaching reform projects, such as “management mode of forestry basic experimental teaching demonstration center and research and practice of operation mechanism” have been undertaken, while one first prize and one second prize of Teaching Achievement Award have been obtained, and more than 10 teaching reform papers have been published.
After years of development, three research directions with distinctive features and advantages have been formed, namely: Reproductive and Developmental Biology, Cell Engineering and Reproductive Engineering, and Developmental Molecular Biology. In the past five years, it has undertaken more than 70 scientific research projects, including six state-level projects and 15 projects at the ministerial and provincial levels, for which the scientific research funds in place are worth more than 4 million Yuan; they’ve obtained 18 awards at the ministerial, provincial and bureau levels; published more than 150 academic papers, including 16 papers collected by SCI, two papers by EI and seven papers in first grade journals; and they have chiefly complied (co-complied) more than 20 monographs and textbooks.
