Prof. Dr. Guomo Zhou/Director
E-mail: zhougm@zafu.edu.cn
Guomo Zhou is a professor at Zhejiang A&F University, director of the ERCBCS-SFGA. Prof. Zhou made fundamental contributions to the field of forest carbon sequestration and climate change mitigation with bamboos. He systematically clarified the scientific issue of whether the bamboo forest is a carbon source or a carbon sink. He developed the ecosystem management technology of bamboo forest carbon enhancement. He is an author of 103 papers published in journals indexed with SCI, making him the worldwide highest productive and most influenced author in the area of bamboo and climate change.
As an expert on forest carbon sequestration, he has given keynotes at the side event of the UNFCCC/COP 6 times and submitted two technical reports since 2009 in Copenhagen. As the chairman, he organized a bamboo session in the 23rd IUFRO Congress in 2010 and a session in the Global Bamboo and Rattan Congress in 2018.
Prof. Zhou served as an evaluator for the National Science Foundation of China, the National Science and Technology Major Project, and the IPCC Assessment Report for Climate Change. He is a member of the Teaching Guidance Committee under the Ministry of Education, the director of the State Key Laboratory of Subtropical Silviculture.
He has received a special allowance from the State Council (2001), He has won three Second Prizes of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award.
